Course information
This 5 day Basic Safety Training course is aimed at anyone wishing to work at sea, whether on a commercial vessel, super or mega yacht, work boats, ferries, cruise liners, offshore etc.
Our students range from existing seafarers, security operatives, stewardesses, chefs, deckhands, wind farm operatives.
Courses are delivered with a mixture of theory and practically based exercises with the emphasis is on realism. All courses are delivered by extremely experienced instructors, all of whom are serving or ex-fire service officers, with a maritime background having served at maritime training centres in the UK and Europe.
The Basic Safety Training course comprises of 4 modules:
- Personal Survival Techniques (STCW A-VI/1-1)
- Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting (STCW A-VI/1-2)
- Elementary First Aid (STCW A-VI/1-3)
- Personal Safety & Social Responsibility (STCW A-V1/1-4)
Seafarers now also require Proficiency in Security Awareness (STCW A-VI/6-1), which is an additional certification. However, we include this course in our Basic Safety Training week for free. This means that when students complete the 5 day Basic Safety Training with us, they will have gained all of the basic certifications required to work on a vessel.
Please be advised that there is a minimum number of students required for the course to run.
We can also add on the Crowd Management Course (Marshall Islands accredited) or Powerboat Level 2 (RYA approved) if we have good interest in numbers for those courses. Email us if you are interested in adding these on at bookings@fireaid.com
