Emergency First Aid at Work

This First Aid at Work course is our most popular, land-based first aid course where you’re welcome at our training centre, or we can come to you. Our trainers are flexible to meet date and time according to your workforce requirements and where necessary ensure training meets your workplace risk assessment.

Prerequisites

No previous training is required.
Candidates must be at least 16 years old.
Candidates need a basic command of English (Defined as Level 2).

Course Information

Our one-day Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course will help you meet your regulatory requirements in line with your risk assessment for first aid training where covering emergency protocols only is sufficient for your workplace. It is ideal for nominated first aiders in a smaller or low risk working environments, such as small offices. This course is designed for people who want to receive training in emergency first aid protocols for adult casualties.

This course will assist the learner to understand the role of the first aider, including reference to:

• The importance of preventing cross infection
• The need for recording of incidents and actions
• The use of available equipment

The learner will be able assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly, and effectively in an emergency to:

• Administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious (including seizure)
• Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and use of an automated external defibrillator (AED)
• Administer first aid to a casualty who is choking
• Administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded and bleeding
• Administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock
• Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries (including small cuts, grazes and bruises, minor burns
  and scalds, small splinters)
