Medical First Aid

(STCW A-VI/4-1)

None- Candidates must be at least 16 years old

Course information

This course is designed for seafarers who are designated to provide medical first aid on board ship. This programme of training meets the requirements laid down in Regulation VI/4, paragraph 1 and section A-VI/4, paragraph 1 to 3 of the STCW Convention and Code 1978, as amended.

Students will gain the essential knowledge and training to enable them to apply immediate first aid to an injured casualty and person suffering from illness on board.

A hands on practical training approach is taken to deliver this course in which lectures, videos, group discussions and practical scenario based exercises are used together with oral questioning to provide training and evidence that learning outcomes have been met.
